Jina Rai: A Devoted Mother, Community Champion, and Star PTA Awardee

Through her leadership, generosity, and consistent involvement, Jina Rai is helping strengthen Mahendra Basic School and encourage greater parental participation in education.

The Journey Begins

Jina Rai was born in Siddhingwa Rural Municipality in 1994 and later settled in Khewang, Sirijangha Rural Municipality.

As a mother and active member of her community, she developed a strong belief that parents should play an active role in their children’s education. That commitment eventually led her to serve as Chairperson of the Parent Teacher Association at Mahendra Basic School, Khewang.

For Jina, the school is not only a place where children learn. It is a shared community space where parents, teachers, and local residents all have a role in helping children succeed.

Growing into Leadership

Jina’s leadership is reflected in the practical support she provides to the school.

She donated seven chairs to the school’s science lab and contributed NPR 15,500 when the school was purchasing land for future development.

Her involvement also extends beyond financial contributions. She participates in school meetings, sanitation campaigns, gardening activities, school functions, and other efforts that improve the school environment.

Her regular presence has helped strengthen the relationship between parents and the school.

Creating Change

Jina’s commitment to education and community participation earned her the Star PTA Award 2024/25.

The recognition reflects her continued support for Mahendra Basic School and her efforts to encourage parents to become more involved in their children’s education.

For Jina, the award represents more than personal recognition. It also demonstrates what parents can contribute when they see themselves as active partners in the development of their school.

Jina’s journey shows how parental involvement can become a powerful force for school development.

Through consistent participation, practical contributions, and community leadership, she continues to help strengthen Mahendra Basic School while demonstrating the role families can play in creating better opportunities for children.

Looking Ahead

Jina hopes her experience will encourage more women in rural communities to become involved in schools and community leadership.

She believes meaningful leadership does not always require a formal position. It can begin with showing up, taking responsibility, and contributing where support is needed.

Her vision is to help create a school where children feel supported, parents remain involved, and the wider community shares responsibility for educational progress.

In Their Words

A shared message on community participation

A school grows stronger when parents, teachers, and the community take responsibility for its children together.
